New Aluminum & Steel Tariffs Impact on Sunroom Pricing

In February 2025, President Donald Trump reinstated a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports, removing previous exemptions and product exclusions. This policy aims to bolster domestic metal industries but has significant implications for sectors reliant on these materials, including sunroom manufacturing.

Impact on Sunroom Pricing

Sunrooms often incorporate aluminum and steel in their structures, making the cost of these metals a critical factor in pricing. Even though Titan Sunrooms sources aluminum and steel from domestic suppliers, the tariffs still have a significant impact on pricing. When tariffs drive up the cost of imported metals, domestic suppliers often raise their prices in response. This occurs because domestic mills face increased demand from companies shifting away from imported metals, allowing them to charge higher prices. Additionally, domestic metal producers may adjust their prices to match the inflated cost of imported materials, leading to an overall market increase.

As a real-world example, Titan Sunrooms recently received a letter from the CEO of EMS (Eastern Metal Supply, one of our key suppliers) stating that pricing would be increasing by at least 15% starting March 5, 2025. This price hike reflects the ripple effect of the tariffs, demonstrating how even companies committed to sourcing materials domestically are not immune to these cost increases.

The reinstatement of tariffs on steel and aluminum imports presents challenges for the sunroom industry, potentially leading to increased prices for consumers. Even though Titan Sunrooms sources domestically, the broader market effects of tariffs still drive up material costs. By proactively adjusting sourcing strategies and exploring alternative materials, manufacturers and consumers can work together to mitigate the impact of these tariffs on sunroom pricing.
